The Federal Government announced Friday that oil, corresponding BP Plc, soufflé-out well introduced in sediments of the Gulf of Mexico, raising environmental concerns.
Officials said in a new report that they are steps provide that if oil can be cleaned.
The report also raised concerns that oil found at the bottom of the Gulf in shallow water of the coast finally could wash ashore.
The results come in a report for the operational science advisory team, a group of scientist formed in August to monitor what happened that settled in the Gulf after much of BP Oil jump at the end of April. The report also assessed what happened to the chemicals dispersants called, the authorities sprayed on hydrocarbons spilled in an effort to break it and prevents it from washing ashore.
The report cites the oil in deep sediments and in shallow waters along the shore as "areas of interest. Furthermore, he stated: in some samples of water from shallow and deep Gulf regions, tests are concentrations of contaminants associated with oil sufficiently high to present a potential risk to marine life.
It will be up to the Federal Government official responsible for sanitation - Coast Guard Rear Admiral Paul Zukunft - to decide if sediment of deep water oil can be cleaned, says the report.
As for oil found under water near the coast, said the report, the teams will try to clean if it hits the shore.
