The Federal Government announced Friday that oil, corresponding BP, soufflé-out well introduced in sediments of the Gulf of Mexico, raising environmental concerns.

Officials said in a new report that they were still unsure if the oil can be cleaned.

The report also raised concerns that oil found at the bottom of the Gulf in shallow water along the coast could eventually washed ashore.

The results come in a report for the operational science advisory team, a group of scientist formed in August to monitor what happened to oil that settled in the Gulf after an explosion in Macondo although BP on 20 April.

The report cites the oil in deep sea sediments and in shallow waters along the shore as "areas of interest. Furthermore, he stated: in some samples of water from shallow and deep Gulf regions, tests are concentrations of contaminants associated with oil sufficiently high to present a potential risk to marine life.

It will be up to the federal public servant responsible for sanitation, Coast Guard Rear Admiral Paul Zukunft - to decide if the oil in deep sea sediments can be cleaned, says the report.
