CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Brigette Madden will be performing in front of a house filled at the Centre of ceramics, with 70 other dancers watch wings and West Virginia Symphony Orchestra complete in an orchestra pit in front of it.
It is 17. And she is not afraid.
That the Charleston Ballet and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra this holiday favorite Tchaikovsky, "The Nutcracker" this weekend, Madden will be dancing the role of Clara, the German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a King of the mice.
George Washington high school junior has been dancing since it was aged 3 years and with the Charleston Ballet for 13 years.
"I only am not at all intimidated", said the ready Madden. "It is always magical to be onstage doing"The Nutcracker."" The West Virginia Symphony music is so fabulous. »

The dancer comes from its role of ballet, she recalls in detail.
"My first piece of recital was rockin' Robin '", she explained. She laughed when she describes the costume: "I had feathers on my shoes and on my thigh - they were colors, blue and green, yellow and red." I loved it. »
The dancer and the costumes have grown. Madden volunteer credits talented the costumes for the show.
"Volunteers who occupy all the costumes, and they are wonderful." On the party scene, wearing a white dress with Pink Ribbon and lace is really pretty and cute. Dream scene, it is a cream color with delicate lace on top. »
This is the third year Madden has played the role of Clara, but this year, she is excited to make a great leap in carrying out the "Snow Pas de deux."
"" I am so honored to carry out the ' not snow "," Madden said. "In the past, there were a membership to the pas de deux in the snow scene."
Parents Madden, Tammy and Jesse, encouraged her and her sister, Sheena, in aspirations dancers.
"I want to continue for the rest of my life," says Madden. "I was in New York and danced with the Saratoga intensive Dance for five weeks, following courses in New York City Ballet dancers program." I love dancing in New York City, but if not New York, I'll stay here and dance with Ms. Pauley! »
The Charleston Ballet is led by artistic director / choreographer Kim Pauley and Symphony is under the direction of Maestro Grant Cooper.
The Nutcracker has a number of guest artists. Olivier Wecxsteen, a former principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the Boston Ballet, will be dancing the role of Drosselmeyer. Ian Casady, a main Houston Ballet's rider Rhiannon Turley sugar plum fairy. Additional guests include Freddie Fourie, Damien Highfield, Oleksandr Vykhrest Jose Pereira of classical ballet of Columbia. Local artist Ted Brightwell will appear as mother Ginger and the American Ballet Academy students will join the Charleston Ballet artists in complete cast.
